We have not ventured into the CBD for a very long time. Restaurant Week prompted us to and Gigi Rooftop was a second great discovery in the CBD for us.
Let me state at the outset that I was aware that St George's Mall is a difficult area for parking – and the Gigi website does not offer any tips. So beware of this logistical nightmare upfront.
We arrived at 18.45, and were greeted by a friendly hostess, and promptly seated. Service throughout the evening was attentive, and polite (our waitress who was just 1 week on the job was fabulous – pity I did not write her name down).
Gigi Rooftop is a beautiful space. It is well appointed, on a rooftop, with wonderful overhanging plants, and tall pots around, adding to the outdoor feel. The setting and ambience was just exquisite…. and the weather played it part.

I had the Smoked Franschhoek Trout Salad as a starter. It was very nicely plated, with fresh crisp greens. The amount of trout was on the stingy side, with only 3 slivers in and about the greens. My wife had the Calamari & Orzo Salad starter, which she raved about. I had a taste, and agreed.

The Linefish main was so good - well conceived with several elements operating in harmony. My wife’s steak was equally superb. It was a dry aged ribeye, done medium. Perfectly grilled, tender and juicy served with the best crispy fries. It was accompanied by the freshest of green beans, snappy and dressed with roasted almonds and feta.

The Churros and Chocolate Fondant to finish were fabulous too.
This is a highly recommended restaurant – and we will definitely return.

I absolutely loved everything about the restaurant, the service was superb with super friendly waiters and staff. They went above and beyond in ensuring we had a lovely time, I’m definitely going back again! I love it, it’s cosy and intimate just what we wanted.

1. Do I need to pay upfront?

At most restaurants, you can make reservations for free and cancel them without any charge. You'll settle the bill when you dine at the restaurant. However, some restaurants may request a small deposit, and they will send a prepayment request via Dineplan to confirm your reservation.

You will receive a confirmation for every reservation within a few minutes at the email address you provided. Haven't received anything? Please check your spam folder.

Refunds through Dineplan should be resolved in communication with the restaurant, and we are not directly involved in this process.

8. Until when can I cancel my reservation?

You can cancel your reservation online up to 8 hours in advance, or by phone up to 1 hour before your reservation time. However, we kindly request that you cancel as soon as you know you won't be able to make your reservation.
