The food was excellent. The fried tofu sushi was a highlight. All the courses were different textures providing a great experience

Went and spent the Saturday afternoon for their 8 course restaurant week menu. We thoroughly enjoyed the different courses, presentations and services received.
Loved the cocktails and the first 2 courses, the edamame and fried squid were delicious. The fried tofu would have liked a softer tofu, the texture would have been even more delicious. The tuna ceviche was nicely presented with a great combination for the palate. The fried tofu sushi had an excellent sweetness, but I agreed with another patron’s comment about the menu having too many fried tofu in the courses. Maybe change the fried tofu to a fish would balance the menu better.
The fire cooked thighs had a nice presentation and tastes.
We exchanged the lamb to the kingklip, it was not as enjoyable as we had hoped. Felt the fish was slightly overcooked.
The beer based short rib was nicely done, but we were so full by then.
The mochi were freshly made and wasn’t too sweet, so it was a great dessert to end the courses.
Overall, loved the presentation, the portion sizes were very generous, great value for money. The services were great, we felt very welcomed. Definitely will be back to try your other dishes!
Thank you restaurant week and Nikkei!

Read full reviewI would be hesitant to return to Nikkei. We all thought (my wife, daughter and I) the the meal served was at best good to average. While we had no complaints about the food and the service and enjoyed the experience, there was something lacking. I was somehow expecting a wow experience based on reviews and personal recommendations, but it just felt flat. The food was not stand out. I have had better for less.
I had a wonderful experience, some meals were peculiar however it was marvellous
Would of preferred less Tofu on the menu.
