I recommend Asoka as a hip, romantic hangout. I don't recommend the food. We had as many bad dishes as we did tasty ones.
We went for our anniversary ❤️
Wonderful ambiance. Very intimate with real trees ! Had the 3 course restaurant week special for very reasonable R225. Food was tasty and delicious but portions were kinda small. Just after 9pm they turned the music up VERY loud so being rather old we beat a hasty retreat !!!
Booked for restaurant week. Food was great however this is the 2nd restaurant that was booked for restaurant week who changed the menu. I had specifically booked this restaurant based on the meal choices and was disappointed in the vegetarian selection on the new menu.

Read full reviewI found Asoka on resturant weeks adverts on instagram. Initially I was pulled in by the 3 course special advertised. The only gripe I have is that the special menu options on restaurant week's website is different to what is on Asoka's. Luckily I had called in ahead so I was already aware of this fact and opted to order a la carte instead. As you walk into Asoka it feels like you are transported into a different reality. The music and decor give an all encompassing vibe. We were seated close to the tree in the middle of the restaurant. Initially I felt to close to the other tables for a romantic night out but supprisingly it wasn't too intrusive. We started of with drinks, I had a porn star martini (highly recommended) and my boyfriend had an espresso martini. We both love sharing our meals when we order different things at a restaurant so the set up with Asoka's tasting platters worked just fine for us. Can't decide what you want? Just get it all! Between the two of us we had 6 different mini meals, all catering to different parts of our tastes buds. The service was great, the food was lovely and the ambience wrapped up our whole experience in a neat little bow. We will definitely be back at Asoka soon, with a couple of friends too!
