We were rushed from the time we arrived, because the kitchen was going to be closing at 4 and the space we were using was going to be prepared for the evening diners. We were moved to bar before we could have dessert. At the bar area our waitress abandoned us, we needed service for a while with no one to assist.
Why have a 14:30 booking if the slot won't be awarded the full experience. Why rush my experience when I'm also a paying customer?
The food was ok, the dessert however was disappointing.

They did not have a modified option of the meals for someone who was allergic to honey despite having indicated that someone was allergic to honey. This was a problem because honey was in that persons preferred meal options. The sea bass was bland and the sauce was sweet. The flavours were not complementary at all, and the pairing was made worse by the presence of sweet potatoes as the starch complement of the dish. The service was below average.
The steak was delicious but the customer service was horrible. We were rushed to order our food, to eat and told if we don’t finish our food we will finish it at the bar area. We had to finish a 3 course meal within a hour. Asked for take aways for my main meal for the food that I had left but was only given the fries and meat without my veggies. The bread that came with the starter was hard as a rock, very difficult to eat. Dessert was too sweet but the ice cream was delicious. Our booking was for 2 pm, got our food around 3 pm and told by 4 pm we should be double with 3 dishes cause they need to start preparing for dinner, told them we will have dinner but was told we will have to eat at the bar. Never been disappointed of a restaurant like this before. Waste of money because of customer service.
10/10 experience
I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Marble. The ambiance and service was impeccable. I feel in terms of the food, that Marble is slightly over hyped. We had the kudu tartare and coal roasted asparagus for the starters (4 out of 5). We had the coal roasted sirloin for mains (2.5 out of 5) and the baklava cheesecake...

We had the kudu tartare and coal roasted asparagus for the starters (4 out of 5). We had the coal roasted sirloin for mains (2.5 out of 5) and the baklava cheesecake (2.5 out of 5) and the ice cream sandwich (4 out of 5) for dessert. I must commend them on the portion sizes; normally in these fine dining establishments, the portion sizes are very tiny but all these portions were large and filling.

About Marble
Cuisine: South African
MARBLE RESTAURANT
“Marble is a celebration of quintessential South African fare. It embodies South Africans’ love of cooking with fire, a quality that makes our food culture different from the rest of the world” David Higgs.
Situated in Keyes Art Mile, the growing art and food hub of Rosebank, Marble Restaurant boasts a grand wood-fired grill imported from Grill Works in Michigan as the focal point of the restaurant. The concept combines the open-fire trend, seen internationally, with an added pinch of true South African flair.
We have long been fascinated by what makes South African cuisine unique, and we believe it’s down to being meat and flame enthusiasts. It is the timeworn ritual of cooking on wood fires and gathering with friends, the shared experience in the preparation. However, it is not just meat which we celebrate in this way, we boast an array of fresh ingredients all cooked on our perfectly prepared coals including fish, poultry, vegetables and breads.
