Read full reviewIt was our first visit to the Pot Luck Club and we were impressed by the ambience and excellent service. The prix fixe menu was delicious but having two fish dishes, both hake, was a little disappointing. I certainly battle with the description of hake as "line-fish". Nonetheless, the small beautifully presented dishes were delicious with a cornucopia of tastes. The addition of prawn ravioli to the seared line fish was a masterstroke. The smoked beef fillet was superb with a wonderfully smoky flavour to the superbly cooked fillet. The meat was accompanied by chickpea, goat's cheese and parmesan fries which were crispy on the outside with an unctuous gooey centre. The truffle aioli and smoked ketchup went exceptionally well with the fries.
The hertzoggie was an utterly delicious pudding to round off a superb lunch. The wine list is extensive with some not widely available gems. There is also very good white and red house wine, apparently from Almenkerk. The service was impeccable, with Kelsey able to make recommendations on the wines to accompany the food. She was attentive without being intrusive. Full marks here.
This is an excellent restaurant and the experience was an absolute treat.
The lunch was delicious. The space is elegant. Our favourites were the fish sliders and the coconut cake. Quantity wise it was enough for me, but my husband could have done with one more dish.
it was a wonderful experience. The food was delicious. the restaurant is small, I assumed it would be bigger, but the experience was excellent.
Such an amazing meal. A demonstration of just how good food can be when the ingredients are top quality. Nothing overly flashy just outstanding flavours that work and compliment the taste of the food. I think i found a new JHB favourite.
