Great starter (Lobster), average main (Fillet and Lamb Neck) and disappointing dessert. Clearly not a dessert Chef.
Wonderful ambience, nice touch with the welcome drink and good service.
Unfortunately, the food will not have me back.
We had an absolute fabulous time. We couldn’t fault anything. Very attentive service and wonderful to see some warm familiar faces.

Coming from Stellenbosch I remember the times when Stellenbosch had 4 out of the 10 best restaurants in the country while Franschhoek at the time still claimed to be the gourmet capital of SA with having only one restaurant in the Top 10 left.
Well, after having been to 'Le Coin Francais' I must say with places like this Franschhoek is 'glawing' their way back into the Top League of fine dining places in SA. Everything was impeccable, the service, the food and even sitting on the 'stoep' had it's merit on a sunny day with watching people walking past.
The dishes are very innovative and flavoursome and the plating is imply superb = 'candy' for the eyes.
One can taste that the ingredients are kind of 'from garden to kitchen' and were well prepared by the 'Maestro', who obviously puts his heart into it.
It could well be that we will find our way back to Franschhoek for another 'Culinary Experience' here.
Food and service were perfect. We had a very delicious 3 course lunch, every single dish held some exquisite surprises, bursts in flavor and texture. Highly recommended!
